The EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) registration is mandatory for manufacturers, importers, and brand owners of electronic and related products. Certification for managing electronic waste (e-waste) is issued by the Central Pollution Control Board. Compliance with EPR e-waste regulations is crucial, as producers are accountable for handling waste generated by their products across its lifecycle. To meet their plastic EPR obligations annually, Producers, Importers, and Brand Owners (PIBOs) must submit online applications to the Central Pollution Control Board or respective State Pollution Control Boards. Authorization is granted to PIBOs after a comprehensive verification and audit of their roadmap for disposing of plastic waste.
What is EPR E-waste management Registration?
EPR e-waste management registration focuses on the registration process for handling electronic waste according to Extended Producer Responsibility guidelines. It requires producers and importers of electronic products to adhere to regulations for responsible electronic waste management and disposal.
Under these provisions, entities categorized as recyclers, producers, refurbishers, manufacturers, or those introducing batteries into the market must obtain EPR Registration specifically for managing battery waste. This registration ensures compliance with environmental standards and responsibilities related to electronic waste disposal.
